Chapter meeting

June 18, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Please check your email for the meeting link.   All John Jay members are welcome at Chapter meetings.  Please come, meet you fellow members, express your concerns, hear what is happening.

We’ll feature a report from the head of our chapter’s Health and Safety Committee, Ellen Belcher. She will fill us in on the status of reopening plans, and concerns that we have as a chapter and as a union about the recently adopted John Jay plan.

We will be describing the union’s biggest June demonstration, Tues. 6/23, 5 pm in midtown, – standing up (safely) against layoffs. We will stand, physically distant, but socially connected, to “Save Lives. Save Jobs. Save CUNY.”  Sign up now to participate, in person or virtually, empowering our defiance of layoffs before CUNY’s final notification deadline of June 29.

At our meeting, we want to devote time also to your views and suggestions in the context of the ongoing uprisings against racist police tactics, considering our special responsibilities at John Jay.

This chapter meeting will end at 1:30 pm, coinciding with the start of the Open Community Forum, “Change: The Path Forward” hosted by President Karol Mason with Student Council President Amber Rivero and President of the Faculty Senate Ned Benton.
